So we decided to get tubes in Maxwell's ears, his ear infections kept coming back and he was waking up three times a night! Poor little guy must have been in a lot of pain. We did the surgery on the 28th of February and it has made such a difference. We had to stop feeding him at midnight the night before and then we took him in at 8:30 the next morning. I felt so bad all night and morning he was crying because he was starving, and I'm sure he was thinking "Why isn't my mom feeding me?" When we got there they called us back and took us to this room to change him into a little gown and they said they would be right back to come and get him. Well after a lot of screaming and 30 minutes later they finally came to get him.
The anesthesiologist and nurse came to take him from me to do the operation. After they took him down the hall I followed behind shortly to watch him since he was screaming and overheard three employees of the hospital make some comments one guy said "Without fail, they are always screaming when they take them back" and then the other said "Well that little guy had it coming." Right after he said that I came around the corner and he saw me and said "Oh, are you the mom"? I just said yes and turned away. I couldn't believe it, here we are so scared to watch our little baby boy go into surgery and there are these people that are making light of the situation and poking fun at an 11 month old baby who is starving! I was not happy and Tom heard the whole thing so I told him to go make a complaint. He went and told the nurses at the desk that we thought it was very unprofessional for people to be making comments about a little baby who is going into surgery. They were very apologetic and the guy that made the comment came in and told us how bad he felt and how inappropriate it was. I was glad that he made an effort to apologize and I just said please don't do that to anyone else! Needless to say we are so glad that Max made it out okay and is doing so well with the tubes. He now goes to bed at 7 and wakes up at 7, after a few hard nights of letting him cry it out. I thought the day would never come! After the surgery they brought him in screaming, (which is completely normal because of the anesthesia). I had to really hold him tight, he almost squirmed out of my arms. The only thing that finally calmed him down was his bottle and blanket.

Curious Max

Oh, you've gotta love the age where they get into everything! He is a very curious little boy right now, this is always a hard stage but it's also fun to see him so fascinated with this stuff.When Carson leaves for school or Daddy leaves for work Max loves to go to the window and watch them leave.
Max loves to pull out all the lids for the pots and pans, he thinks they are cars and he pushes them all over the kitchen floor. If I try to put them away and he sees he will pull them right back out!
Good thing he is only eating an apple here, but he still puts everything in his mouth. I can't tell you how many things I have found in his mouth. At least he never tries to swallow them, he just likes to slosh them around.
He is fascinated with the dishwasher, he climbed right on the other day, good thing he is so light!

Thank goodness he has some downtime and can kick up his feet and relax

Carson at 7 years

He weighs 42 lbs and is 45 inches tall!

Other interesting facts - He has lost two teeth and is almost ready to pull out his front tooth. He has to wear his socks inside out, he loves going to school and he is a great helper with his baby brother.

Carson's Birthday

We surprised Carson by taking him to Boondocks on his birthday. He wanted to go miniature golfing but it was closed, he still had a great time playing all the arcade games and climbing in the giant playland.
I can't believe that I have a 7 year old! Carson was so excited to have his friends and cousins come over for his birthday. He starts talking about his birthday as soon as Christmas is over.

For Carson's birthday this year he wanted to have a basketball theme. I thought I would be a little more creative with his cake and I went online and found some fun ideas. In the end degree of difficulty won over creativity, but I still think it turned out cute...and it really wasn't that hard!We had about 12 kids and it wasn't too bad. We played bingo, had them go fishing, opened presents and had cake and ice cream.

Carson asked for an electric guitar for his birthday, he was thrilled! He also got a soccer goal to use in the yard and some wooden cars to paint from his grandparents. He bought himself a tomagatchi with his birthday money. He had a great day!
